Have the Courage to Help Others – Bohdi Sanders

Dragon in a Storm

That person that helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero. Stan Lee

There is not much that makes a man or woman of honor feel as good as going out of his or her way to help someone else simply because it is the right thing to do. That is why we love movies about the hero who goes out of his way to help others, even though it may put him at risk or puts him at odds with dangerous people. It makes us feel good to see another human being risking his life to protect others.

I posted a post a few days back about Bridger, a six-year-old boy who saved his sister’s life from a vicious dog by putting himself in between the dog and his little sister. Bridger paid dearly for his heroic actions, receiving vicious bites to his face and then having around 90 stitches. When asked why he did it, Bridger stated, “I just thought that if someone was going to die, it should be me, not my sister.” THAT is truly heroic! And my post about Bridger’s heroic actions got tons of heartfelt comments.

Why did that story get so many likes and great comments? The answer is simple – it touched people’s hearts. We all love stories of heroism, courage, and bravery. They touch us deep inside and can even bring tears to our eyes. It makes us proud to be human and motivates us to be a better person.

You don’t have to be in a life-or-death situation to be an everyday hero. Look for ways to help others as you go through each day. Always be willing to step up and help others, especially in dire situations. Don’t do it for recognition or to feel proud of yourself; do it simply because it is the right thing to do.

Determine that you will do the right thing, no matter how hard or scary it may be. Be courageous and help others when you can. If you are a man or woman of honor, if you are truly a warrior, then you do it because it must be done. And it must be done because simply because you are a warrior and it is the right thing to do. The only other option would be not to live up to your code of honor, and to walk away feeling like a coward. And that is unacceptable for a true warrior.

Have the courage to be someone’s hero. Have the backbone to stand against the tide, if need be, and do what’s right simply because it is right. Be the warrior you are meant to be! Warrior up!
